Ole Werner to be thnew head coach of Wd Bremen

SV Werder Bremen have a new head coach: Ole Werner will take over the role with immediate effect. The 33-year-old, most recently at Holstein Kiel, will lead training for the first time at 14:00 CET Monday afternoon. He will be officially presented to the press at 16:30 CET.

Alongside Ole Werner, Patrick Kohlmann will also join Werder as assistant head coach. The pair previously worked together in Kiel. There will be no further changes to the coaching staff or the surrounding team.

Ole is a young, exciting and really good coach who suits Werder well with his idea of football. He wants to join us on our path and build a young team with room to grow and develop. He was successful as a coach in Kiel, he knows the league well and as somebody from northern Germany he will find his feet quickly in Bremen, said Werder sporting director Frank Baumann.

Ole Werner is full of excitement looking ahead to his new job at Osterdeich: In the discussions you could tell straight away that both sides share the same opinions on how to play, how to go about your work. That convinced me that Werder is the right challenge for me. Werder is all about a brave, attacking style of play, and a certain togetherness as well. Those are things that I can identify well with and that I can bring with me. I cant wait to finally get going with the team and to get fighting for points.

Ole Werner started out coaching the youth teams at Holstein Kiel, before progressing to the U23 side and then finally taking over the first team in September 2019. In the 2020/21 season his team reached the play-off spot for promotion to the Bundesliga as well as the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal. Werner left his post after matchday seven this season.
